DVD Rundown: Madea Goes to Jail on Friday the 13th

“DVD Rundown” is the second new article that I’m adding to the site. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but it’ll be a weekly article posted Tuesday afternoon/night (depending on how many new releases there are) that gives some brief thoughts on the film and whether or not it’s worth a viewing.

Friday the 13th- What else would you expect from a Michael Bay produced remake of a classic horror film? Bay is notorious for making entertaining movies (I’ll debate this point with anyone who disagrees) and he does this by packing his movies filled with as much action and explosions as he can. It’s no suprise then that the Platinum Dunes (Bay’s company) remake of Friday the 13th doesn’t concentrate on story or character but how many times it can make you jump and how many good looking people can be brutally killed. There’s no “horror” in this movie, just plenty of jumps and death. FINAL VERDICT: Worth a rent if you’re a fan of the genre or are planning on watching it with a good group of friends.

Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail- Did you seriously think I was going to review a Tyler Perry movie on this blog? If that ever happens, never come back to the site, because it means I’ve lost my mind. I don’t need to see anything more than a preview for any of Tyler Perry’s work to know that it’s crap. I don’t care that it wins NAACP awards because it portrays black people as something other than thugs. The Wire portrayed blacks as thugs and it’s the best thing ever shot with a camera. FINAL VERDICT: Nothing this guy ever makes is worth watching. Period.
