DVD Rundown: Two Lovers Go 12 Rounds With a Street Fighter

12 Rounds- From the director of Die Hard 2 and a writer who saw Die Hard 3 and thought, “I can do that” comes 12 Rounds. Instead of Bruce Willis (one of the great action stars of our time), we get WWE wrestler John Cena. There are some movies that are so bad they’re good, and this movie has some of those moments, but overall, it’s garbage. There are so many better cheesy, over-the-top action films out there. FINAL VERDICT: Could be mildly entertaining if you catch it on TV one day and nothing else is on, but never pay for it. Ever.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li- There no “so bad it’s good” moments in this movie. Instead, it falls into the “so bad you’re life is worse having seen it” category. I don’t expect Oscar worthy performances in a movie like this, but every actor in this movie is dreadful to the point it makes Mark Wahlberg inThe Happening look like Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood. Seriously, this movie looks like a bunch of 7th graders came into a budget and tried to make a movie. FINAL VERDICT: There’s nothing enjoyable about this movie.

Two Lovers- Not a mind blowing movie or very original, but it’s a good character drama with good performances across the board. Gwenyth Paltrow is a great actress who has decided to choose less mainstream roles and Joaquin Phoenix is a great actor who has decided to become a bearded rapper. Despite being very small, it’s a romantic movie that can appeal to both men and women, though likely more to the latter. FINAL VERDICT: A very solid rental for drama fans.
